We bought a 1020s property with a view to pretty much knocking it down and building a new 5 bedroom property that we had designed. We had never been involved in such a large build project and had little knowledge. Our architect designed our vision and we put quotes out to a number of local builders. prices varied significantly and I had to chase a number of them, some with no response at all. M j coopers whilst not the cheapest were the most helpful and professional from the start. Not only did they price for the job but were able to suggest edits and different ideas that would help us carry out the build within our budget but still create our vision. The build was 6 months and we moved to a rental property nearby that could only let for 5 months. Olly and his team completed within 5 to work with us and his team worked long days every day including bank holidays and weekends. Neighbours and passers by would often comment how smart the team are and how tidy the property and plot would be left each night even though there was nobody living there. We visited with our kids most days and Olly or his team would take time to show us and talk through progress and next steps. They even had hard hats for the kids so that they could feel part of the experience. Olly engaged with us at each stage of the build, making recommendations and giving options on everything from windows through to doors and skirting boards. He would go out of his way to search for alternatives on line and with his contacts to show us samples, all to ensure we could have the look and feel we wanted. He absolutely ‘got’ us and our vision of what we were trying to achieve. Their professionalism extended to their subcontractors from kitchen fitters to plumbers and all were well managed through Olly making the whole process stress free for us. Our neighbours were so impressed they awarded MJ Coopers their build too which they completed the same year. We are very proud of our house and we couldn’t have achieved this without the help, hard work and support of Olly and his team. Nearly three years on Olly still answers his phone to us and responds quickly to help revisit any ongoing maintenance that is needed. We couldn’t recommend these highly enough.

We used MJ Cooper to do a major upgrade on a bungalow in early 2018. This involved an extension, loft conversion, new kitchen, bathrooms, central heating, rewire etc. Olly and his team were highly professional, friendly and efficient at all times. The project was completed to a very high standard, on-time and to the agreed budget. We are extremely pleased with the result.

MJ Cooper Builders did a large one story extension on the back of my house. Olly managed every aspect of it with professionalism, skill and knowledge. My extension was finished to a very high standard and nothing was too much trouble, even when my ideas and plans changed extensively. I would highly recommend Olly and his team.

MJ Cooper Builders has completed a couple of projects for my school. They constructed a bespoke reception area a number of years ago and recently have replaced the conservatory roof, gutters and some down pipes at the back of the main building approximately 30 metres in length. From conception of the projects they have been very professional with pre-site meetings and meetings during the renovations. As we are a school they followed our safeguarding and security policies. All contractors were very polite. They are a very professional company and I would have no hesitation in recommending them for works in an education setting.

I met Mal and Olly when I tendered for work to construct a new 'orangery' kitchen extension. Their price wasn't the cheapest, but the project was important. The works were extensive and included demolishing the existing kitchen and forming a fully glazed all, which included bespoke timber French doors and windows to match the sash windows in the rest of the house - they made sensible suggestions and sourced the supplier for the doors, oak flooring and atrium windows. They and their team of workers were conscientious, hard working and trustworthy. The standard of their work and their attitude throughout was exceptional. Whilst I had no desire to achieve the 'wow factor', it is the noise visitors to our kitchen usually make, as they enter. The kitchen was finished a while back, it still looks fantastic and I've had Mal and Olly back to undertake various other projects.
